After my birthday dinner, things got a little awkward. Seth and Leah went home as wolves...because of the stress, I guess. Charlie was horrified. There was so much silence around the table.
I remember the conversations. Renee awkwardly attempting to fill the awkward silence. Charlie glaring down everyone, giving the uncomfortable stares. He seemed most disappointed with Jacob, for letting my mother go, and then going after me, his _granddaughter._ All I wanted was to be alone with Jacob. I was starting to think that telling Charlie and Renee at my birthday dinner was a bad idea. Leah was grumpy as always. I just feel so bad for Leah. I mean, with Emily and Sam and their four kids, or whatever.
When they all left, everyone glared at me, except for Aunt Rosalie, Seth, and Jacob.
"What?! You said I could go for it! It's not my fault Grandpa got upset! I'm sure you all remember the first time I met him..." I said.
"She's right. And there was no possible way we could have done it better than right out, unless we had done it before today. Cut her some slack." Carlisle suggested. He had always been kind to me. I guess it was some Grandpa-granddaughter thing.
"Let's go home." Mom said. I remember how upset she was with my Jacob when he told--showed--Charlie that he was a werewolf. This couldn't have been much better.
When we got home, I heard my parents talking in hushed tones in their bedroom. I concentrated and forced a shield on my mind, long enough to escape our small cottage with grace and silence, and sprinted off to Jacob's. When I got there, I was tired and sweating a little. I could move fast enough as a normal vampire, but my human qualities forced me to become tired and perspired.
"Hey," Jacob said when he saw me at the door. "I suppose you escaped, right?" I nodded, panting. "Come here, Nessie."
I entered the house and he put his arm around me. We went into his room and sat on his couch. "I'm sorry about dinner, Jacob. I didn't want Charlie to get mad at you."
"Nessie! I could never be upset with you! You don't have to apologize at all. Part of it _was_ my fault, you know." Jacob protested. We stared into each other's eyes. I slowly leaned forward, closing my eyes. Our lips met. We started to kiss. More and more passionately, we leaned in. He ran his hands through my hair, I threw my arms around his neck. I leaned more into him, and then I was on top of him, still kissing. I pulled away. "Sorry, Nessie, I got carried away--"
"No big deal. I need some sleep. Can I crash here tonight?"
He grinned. "I was hoping you'd say that."
I laughed. "O.K. I'll get some blankets." I got up and went out into the hall to get some blankets, running into Rachel.
"So, you're staying here tonight? Don't get too loud with Jacob. I need my beauty sleep." Rachel said.
"No," I laughed, "We're _just_ sleeping. You can have your beauty sleep." I assured her.
"Good. But I'm glad that Jacob is happy now. I hated watching him pine over Bella while she only wanted Edward."
"Yeah. Good night, Rachel."
"Good night, Nessie."
Blankets in hand, I walked back into Jacob's room, quietly shutting the door. "Hey, Jake."
"Hey. Oh, change of plans. I'm not making you sleep on the couch. You can sleep on the bed." Jacob said, taking the blankets from me. He grabbed a pillow from his bed and set up an arrangement on his couch. I sat on his bed and climbed under the covers.
"Thanks." I said, looking into his eyes once more. "You really don't know how much you mean to me." I told him honestly.
"I don't think that could compare to what I feel for you. Dang, that sounded poetic. I think I'll write that down. Become a famous author."
I laughed. "Look away. Oh, and can you grab a t-shirt for me please?" As he turned around, I took off my bra and jeans and put them on the floor. I took my hair out of its ponytail-braid and put the hair tie on my wrist. Jacob turned around too soon. I grabbed my shirt and put it over my chest. "Gah! Jacob!"
"Sorry, sorry." He chuckled. Jacob handed me a blue shirt. He then slowly turned back around, sneaking peeks as he turned.
God. Boys are such dogs. Ha-ha!
When I safely had one of Jacob's t-shirts on with the covers over me, I called Jacob over. He lay down on the top of the bed. "I love you, Renesmee." he whispered into my ear.
I took his face in my hands and kissed him on the lips. He put his hand on my back and we were kissing again. When I knew things would go too far, I said, "Jacob! Just. Sleeping." He pecked my forehead.
"Good night, Nessie." he said, and literally hopped on the couch. I laughed. Jacob was the greatest.
