It was here in Volterra that we had heard of the Cullen's newest family member. A woman vampire had come to us, telling us falsely that the Cullens had created an immortal child. Aro was raged. But it had been seven long years and we had not heard anything about the Cullens, or their disgraceful hybrid of a child. It was time to visit them. I believe that we had heard that Renesmee, was that her name? would eventually slow her rapid growth and stay seventeen for centuries if not more.
*ONE MONTH AGO*
"Alec. Jane. Come." were Aro's only words.
"Yes, master Aro?" I asked, immediately rushing to his side, along with Jane; my twin sister.
"The Cullens have kept silent for seven years, have they not?"
"No, they have not, master." Jane said.
"And what do you propose we shall do about it?" Aro questioned.
"Master, I do not know, but I shall faithfully and happily do your duties as you wish," I told him honestly.
"Very well," he said. "But I do want to say that you have been my most faithful servants in all of my long years. I wish you well. It would be wise of you not to--how do they say these days--'screw it up.' Clear?"
"Crystal," Jane and I said at once.
"Marvelous. What I want you to do is investigate. I believe the Cullens live now in Sequim, not far from Forks, where they were. I want you to enroll in their educational base and learn their ways. Once it has been two months, you must return to Volterra to be with me. Do not make a spectacle of yourself. Please do, for the time being, participate in their--" he coughed, "_vegetarian_ ways. Leave in one month."
I shuddered. "As you wish, master."
And then we left.
*TODAY*
Now here we were, walking towards the property of Sequim High School.
"Sister, we must not attract attention. I have learned that the Cullens keep a...'low-profile' and often do not talk."
"Yes, Brother. Duly noted. I would like to propose a possible solution."
"What is it?"
"We shall part ways. We shall learn new things," she said, looking into my eyes. Her eyes were starting to form a caramel color, much like any vegetarian vampire. It was a horrible lifestyle.
"I agree. Let us part. Goodbye, Sister."
"Goodbye, _for the time being,_ Brother."
And walking up the steps, I saw the most beautiful young girl I had ever seen, looking at me. Long, curly red hair down to her back. Talking with two other girls. _Alec, you must not attract attention. Walk away from this girl._ But no luck. She was beautiful, and I could easily see the kindness radiating from inside. I could see now that she was happy. That she was satisfied with her full life.
I tuned in on her conversation.
"Oh. My. God. That is the hottest boy I'd ever seen!" said the girl in pigtails and glasses, wearing a demeaning blue shirt to unsuccessfully encourage reading books.
"Totally cute! I love new boys! Let's become friends with his sister!" the light brunette in the flowery dress and long, fluffy hair said to them both.
I assumed that they were referring to me. With my outlandish vampire good-looks, this must be the reaction I get with every human. The same must also be said for my twin sister.
"Excuse me," the beautiful girl said. I could not help it. I wanted to know her. She walked towards me. Unlike my vampiric ways, it seemed almost as if a heart inside of me was speeding its pulse rate. How very strange. She was right in front of me now. "Alec, what the hell are you and Jane doing in Sequim?"
This put me in shock for about two seconds. Then I recovered. "I am dreadfully sorry for causing you strain. I will go." I said, and reluctantly started to walk past her.
"Alec, I remember you. All I want to know is WHY you and Jane have come."
I stopped in my tracks when I realized. The beautiful girl was Renesmee. The immortal child.
